How to Play a Name Pronunciation Recording in Canvas

On your MySloan Profile, you can record the pronunciation of your name. For step-by-step instructions, refer to How to Record Your Name Pronunciation in MySloan.

After recording the pronunciation of your name in MySloan, it will be displayed in any Canvas course that you’re enrolled in within 24 hours. Anyone enrolled in your Canvas course can then play your recording to learn how best to address you.

The name pronunciation recordings for:

• students are accessible in the Photobook tool; and
• faculty, course admins, and teaching assistants are accessible in the Course Overview tool.

Play Name Pronunciation Recordings of Students using the Photobook Tool in Canvas

If a name pronunciation recording is available for a student in your Canvas course, a Sound icon will be displayed next to their name in the Photobook tool.

1. In your Canvas course, click on Photobook in the Course Navigation Menu.
   
2. To play a name pronunciation recording, click on the Sound icon.
   

Play Name Pronunciation Recordings for Members of the Teaching Team using the Course Overview Tool in Canvas

If a name pronunciation recording is available for a member of the teaching team in your Canvas course, a Sound icon will be displayed next to their name in the Course Overview tool.

1. In your Canvas course, click on Course Overview in the Course Navigation Menu.
   
2. To play a name pronunciation recording, click on the Sound icon.
